Its shallow, alkaline waters are home to a variety of wildlife including huge flocks of flamingoes. There are two hot springs, Maji Moto Ndogo (little hot water) and Maji Moto Kubwa (big hot water), that have large numbers of flamingo when the river waters are low. These springs bubble to the surface at a temperature of 76 degrees Centigrade (169 Fahrenheit). Stay over night at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge.

Oct 8th: Safari in Ngorongoro crater. The 250 sq km crater is 600m deep and is the land of Masai, their cattle, and wildlife. Ngorongoro hosts over 20,000 large animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos. Accommodation at Sopa Lodge at Ngorongoro Crater’s rim.

Known locally as Mji Mkongwe (Old Town), Stone Town is the cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar. Shopping in Zanzibar (especially Stone Town), is a shopper’s paradise where the narrow streets are lined with stores selling local crafts, antiques, clothes and spices.  Accommodations will be at the Dhow Palace in Stone Town.
