Day 1:
You will arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. Transportation to your hotel in Arusha town will be waiting for you.
Day 2:
Day 2 will be a trip to Mt. Meru villages. We will pick you up from the hotel around 9:00 am and drive to Nkoaranga (40 min). The day starts with a walk around the local hospital and then proceeds through Poli village. On the way you will visit small houses with banana, maize, and coffee plantations along the way. Aranga Coffee Group will proudly show you their Organic Coffee nursery. After the tour, you will be served a hot Tanzanian lunch at the TAfrica Safaris & Wild Tracks garden. You will be tasting traditional foods of Africa; chapati, roasted banana, rice, ugali, spinach and a delicious sauce of goat. All of this is produced in the village. Fresh fruits of the season will be prepared for an appetizer and for dessert you may try the delicious Fair Trade Coffee. After the meal, you will have time to visit the Micro Coffee Roasting factory. Here you can learn about how the coffee is roasted and buy some to take home if you’d like. Following this tour will be dinner and accommodations at your hotel in Arusha.
Day 3:
This will be the first day of your safari. We will pick you up from your hotel around 8:00 am. You will then start the drive to Lake Manyara (about 2 hours from Arusha). Inside Lake Manyara, lunch will be served at a picnic site with a beautiful view over the lake and Great Rift Valley. The park has a dense forest making it possible to get very close to Black monkeys, Blue monkeys and baboons. There will also be elephants, giraffes and hippos near by. If you have a sharp eye, you will be able to see lions resting in the shade of the trees. This park has a very nice view of the lake with plenty of birds to watch. After the game drive, you will return to the camp site or your hotel.
Day 4:
You will want to wake up early for the drive to Serengeti National Park. This is a long drive so you will be eating lunch en-route to the campsite in Serengeti. While passing by Ngorongoro Crater, you will have a chance to look down on the park from a great view point. Day 4 will end at the camp site, or at your hotel, where you will stay overnight.
Day 5:
A bonus for the early risers will be a game drive early in the morning when the sun is rising. At this time of the morning, many animals will be more active than later in the day when the sun is hotter. Breakfast will be served when you return to the camp/hotel. You will be able to see zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos and a wide variety of birds. Dinner will be served in the evening at the camp where you sleep or at your hotel.
Day 6:
Wake up for an early breakfast on day 6. The game drive and lunch will be in the Serengeti park. After lunch, you will start the drive to Ngorongoro crater. On the way to the next destination will be another game drive. Later that evening, you will arrive at the Crater’s rim where you will eat dinner and stay the night. It can be much colder than the Serengeti trek so be prepared for a chilly evening. If the weather is good, the view will be fantastic from the rim of the crater.
Day 7:
A descent into the crater will start day 7. The entire day will be spent on a game drive and lunch will be served near Ngorongoro Crater’s water source. If you are lucky, you will see the Africa’s “Big 5” (buffalo, leopard, elephant, antelopes, zebras, gnus and hippos) inside the crater. That afternoon will be the drive back to your hotel on the crater’s rim. If camping, you will go to the Nainokanoka Maasai Village for the night.
Day 8:
After breakfast, you will drive to the beautiful Empakaai Crater. A Maasai guide will walk with you down into the crater to show you the different trees they use for medicine. The crater’s lake is full of pink flamingoes which will make lunch in the crater spectacular. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Karatu village for dinner and some much needed sleep.
Day 9:
The last day of your safari, you will have an opportunity to go shopping in Karatu, and/or Arusha, on the way to the airport for your transfer home.
